Service members and staff from the Navy and Marine Corps Force Health Protection Command (NMCFHPC) and Navy Environmental Preventive Medicine Unit Two (NEPMU-2) participated in the annual Norfolk Fleet Fest Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) event, Oct. 18, 2024, Norfolk, Virginia. During the event Hospital Corpsman First Class Nathan Horning, a preventive medicine technician with NEPMU-2, instructs a student on how to properly wear a M50 gas mask, known as the Joint Service General Purpose Mask. The M50 gas mask is used by the U.S. military to safeguard against chemical, biological, and nuclear (CBRN) threats. Its primary purpose is for protection against chemical and biological agents, toxic industrial chemicals, and radiation. (Navy photo by Desmond Martin)
