U.S. Army Sgt. Chamroeun Nuth, Company B, 122nd Aviation Support Battalion, 82nd Combat Aviation Brigade, and the 440th Maintenance Group (Air Force Reserve Command) prep airbags inside a hangar at Pope Army Airfield, Jan. 13. Airbags are used to lift and balance the aircraft during downed aircraft extraction. The large airbag is separated into four sections that can be configured into a structure to lift the aircraft if a wing is down or the aircraft is on its side. This hands-on exercise helped train soldiers to successfully recover a downed aircraft.
