Deployed U.S. Army Corps of Engineers personnel Julie Standard and Capt. John Lim help residents of the St. Petersburg, Florida, area learn more about the Operation Blue Roof program Oct. 27. Using a Mobile Command Vehicle, USACE is able to visit communities to get the word out about the program. Operation Blue Roof is a priority mission managed by USACE for FEMA. The mission’s purpose is to provide homeowners in disaster areas with blue-colored, fiber-reinforced sheeting to temporarily cover their damaged roofs until arrangements can be made for permanent repairs. This is a free service for homeowners.
