Tim Snyder, Demonstration and Assessment Team contractor, explains the capabilities of the Stern Landing Vessel, a modified oil-rig industry off-shore support vessel, to distinguished visitors, Oct. 30, 2024 at Naha Military Port, Okinawa, Japan. The SLV, named the HOS Resolution, is a 267-foot converted offshore support vessel capable of providing 6,000 square feet of usable deck space that has been modified to beach and offload using a stern ramp. The Marine Corps Warfighting Laboratory contracted the SLV to explore maneuver and sustainment options for Stand-In Forces to inform the development of the Medium Landing Ship.
