Beaufort County, N. C., Communications Director Brandon Tester captures aerial footage of U. S. Army Corps of Engineers debris removal operations in Swannanoa, N.C., Oct. 31 to document key locations around Buncombe County where significant debris piles have accumulated. Tester captured drone footage of USACE contractors actively collecting debris, transporting it to the disposal site, and unloading. Since Oct. 28, USACE contractors have removed more than 28,000 cubic yards of debris in Buncombe County.

USACE brings unique capabilities to emergency responses but is just one piece of a much larger Army and DOD team working to support federal, state, and local partners.

The Wilmington District oversees the disaster response and relief effort on behalf of USACE in North Carolina. The district provides support to western North Carolina through execution of FEMA mission assignments. (U.S. Army Corps of Engineers photo by Edward Rivera)
