NAVAL STATION NORFOLK (Nov. 7, 2024) Lt. Col. James Lindler, amphibious warfare staff planner, and former Marine Staff Sgt. Brian Wells, civilian planner, both assigned to Carrier Strike Group (CSG) 4, cut a cake in celebration of the United States Marine Corps’ 249th birthday in the atrium of CSG-4’s headquarters in Naval Station Norfolk’s historic building N-23. Staff members gathered to hear the Commandant of the Marine Corps’ birthday message and to celebrate the Blue-Green team. CSG-4 works with II Marine Expeditionary Force’s Expeditionary Operations Training Group during pre-deployment training for Amphibious Ready Group and Marine Expeditionary Unit integrated training events. Additionally, Expeditionary Warfare Training Group Atlantic - one of CSG-4’s subordinate commands – is a Marine Corps-led command that delivers world-class expeditionary warfare training focused on amphibious operations to ensure the Joint Force and Allies partner forces are ready to project military power from the sea. CSG-4 mentors, trains, and assesses carrier strike groups, amphibious ready groups, and independent deployers for global combat against peer competitors.
