U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Healy completes Phase 1 Arctic 2024 Fall Deployment: Alaskan Arctic Coast Port Access Routing Study and Opportunistic Mapping Initiative

Members of the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Healy (WAGB 20) deck department and the U.S. National Science Foundation-funded Ship-based Science Technical Support in the Arctic (STARC) team deploy an air-deployable expendable ice buoy from Healy’s fantail while the cutter transits the Beaufort Sea, Oct. 21, 2024. Healy’s crew supported an embarked science team during the first phase and conducted the AACPARS and opportunistic mapping, which included bathymetric mapping in the Chukchi and Beaufort Seas.
