The Idaho Army National Guard’s State Aviation Group and the Boise Fire Department’s Swiftwater/Dive Rescue Team conducted hoist rescue training on Oct. 31, 2024 with the UH-60 Black Hawk and UH-72 Lakota helicopters. Together, the Idaho National Guard and Boise Fire Department have aided in several real world rescues and the Idaho National Guard has responded to assist state agencies in approximately 11 rescues this year. The joint training is practiced with the fire department approximately every six months and last week focused on rescuing from a moving vehicle to simulate hoisting from swift water like flooding.
