U.S. Marine Corps Cpl. Jonathan Mikita, a radar operator with 3rd Battalion, 12th Marine Littoral Regiment, views a screen displaying tracks received from a Lightweight Counter-Mortar Radar during exercise Keen Sword 25 at the Ie Shima, U.S. Marine Corps Training Facility, Okinawa, Japan, Oct. 26, 2024. Radar operators are responsible for targeting hostile and friendly artillery and conducting counter fire operations. Keen Sword is a biennial, joint and bilateral field-training exercise involving U.S. military and Japan Self-Defense Force personnel, designed to increase readiness and interoperability while strengthening the ironclad U.S.-Japan alliance.
