A U.S. Marine Corps MV-22 Osprey attached to Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron (VMM) 265, Marine Aircraft Group 36, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, flies in formation during exercise Keen Sword 25 on Okinawa, Japan, Oct. 28, 2024. The MV-22 is a tiltrotor aircraft that provides expeditionary troop transport, allowing units to deploy to W-174 Joint Okinawa Range Complex to rehearse coordination of close air support and fires, strengthening joint and bilateral interoperability and readiness. Keen Sword is a biennial, joint and bilateral field-training exercise involving U.S. military and Japan-Self Defense Force personnel, designed to increase readiness and interoperability while strengthening the ironclad U.S. - Japan alliance.
