A U.S. Marine Corps MV-22 Osprey attached to Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron (VMM) 265, Marine Aircraft Group 36, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing inserts Japan Self-Defense Force members with Amphibious Rapid Deployment Brigade, Ground Component Command, during exercise Keen Sword 25 on W-174 Joint Okinawa Range Complex at Irisuna Island, Okinawa, Japan, Oct. 28, 2024. The MV-22 is a tiltrotor aircraft that provides expeditionary troop transport allowing units to deploy to W-174 Joint Okinawa Range Complex to rehearse coordination of close air support and fires and strengthen joint and bilateral interoperability and readiness. Keen Sword is a biennial, joint and bilateral field-training exercise involving U.S. military and Japan-Self Defense Force personnel, designed to increase readiness and interoperability while strengthening the ironclad U.S. - Japan alliance.
