ANSBACH, Germany (17 November 2024) USAG Ansbach Command Team, Col. Aaron Southard and Command Sgt. Maj. Michael Seelow attended the German Volkstrauertag ceremony with local dignitaries in the city of Ansbach.

In attendance were also (from left) Kreisverbindungskommando Ansbach County Dr. Wolfgang Rupp, Dep. County Commissioner Stefan Horndasch, Lord Mayor of Ansbach Thomas Deffner, USAG Ansbach Command Team, member of the district council Ansbach Herbert Lindörfer and Kreisverbindungskommando Ansbach Lt. Col. Christian Böckler.

The Volkstrauertag ceremony, occurs every year in mid-November, and fulfills a similar purpose to the American Memorial Day to commemorate the victims of war, tyranny and their sacrifices, which should never be forgotten.

On this day, the Garrison Command Team laid down a wreath along with the German Bundeswehr, Reservists, Ansbach Fire Department, and Veterans organizations.

USAG Ansbach is a U.S. Army Power Projection Platform consisting of aviation, engineering, and artillery assets spread across nine kasernes in the heart of Middle Franconia, Germany.
