Volunteers from the Fairbanks Salvation Army and Airmen of the 168th Wing, Alaska Air National Guard, sort and wrap gifts to be delivered to Circle, Alaska, during Operation Santa Claus, Nov 4, 2024. Operation Santa Claus is an annual Alaska National Guard community outreach program that provides Christmas gifts, books, and school supplies to children in rural Alaskan communities. This year marks the 69th year of the program, which began in 1956 after the village of St. Mary's experienced a year of hardship and the Alaska Air National Guard flew in gifts and supplies donated by the local community. Circle, Alaska, was selected as a beneficiary of this year's mission due to severe flooding that recently impacted the community. (U.S. Air National Guard photo by Senior Master Sgt. Julie Avey)
