U.S. Marine Corps Cpl. Ellijah Garcia, an intelligence specialist with the 3rd Intelligence Battalion, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, disassembles a Furuno DRS4DNXT radar during a sensory expeditionary advanced base operation exercise at Ie Shima Training Facility, Okinawa, Japan, Dec. 10, 2024. The exercise reinforced Marines’ abilities to gather maritime and airspace intelligence by employing radars and relaying the information back to commanders. The 31st MEU, the Marine Corps’ only continuously forward-deployed MEU, provides a flexible and lethal force ready to perform a wide range of military operations as the premier crisis response force in the Indo-Pacific region.
