PORTSMOUTH, Va. (Jan. 12, 2025) — Rear Adm. Kevin Brown, commander of Naval Medical Forces Atlantic, stands with Capt. Chad McKenzie, deputy commander, Naval Medical Forces Atlantic, and Command Master Chief CMDCM (SW/AW/FMF) Lamar Bethel as he presides over the virtual change of command ceremony for Navy Medicine Readiness and Training Command (NMRTC) Cherry Point. Capt. Sean Barbella was officially relieved by Capt. James Driscoll in an unusual virtual ceremony, necessitated by Barbella’s urgent assignment to the White House Medical Unit, where he is required to report Monday. Adm. Brown praised Barbella’s exceptional leadership and expressed full confidence in Driscoll’s ability to build upon the solid foundation Barbella established. The Cherry Point team displayed remarkable adaptability, planning and executing the event in just 11 days to ensure a smooth transition. (U.S. Navy photo by Jennifer Goulart)
