Oilouch is sworn into office by the Honorable Rose Mary Skebong, senior judge of the land of court, during the inauguration ceremony at Ngerulmud, the Palau National Capitol, Jan. 16. U.S. Army Col. Alejandro Buniag, chief of staff of Joint Task Force - Micronesia, and other U.S. military leaders from across the Pacific attended the ceremony, which underscored U.S. Indo-Pacific Command’s commitment to strengthening partnerships and ensuring a free and open Indo-Pacific that is connected, prosperous, secure, and resilient. Under the Compact of Free Association (COFA), the United States has full authority and responsibility for defense and security matters in and relating to Palau.
