The Honorable Carlos Del Toro, Secretary of the Navy, promotes Chesty XVI to the rank of corporal at the Oldest Post of the Corps on Jan. 16, 2025. The promotion was held during Secretary Del Toro's last moments in office with multiple senior leaders of the Marine Corps in attendance. In his ending remarks, Secretary Del Toro announced the name of the USS McClung (LSM 1) in recognition for the first U.S. Marine Corps female officer killed in Iraq and the first female graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy to be killed in the line of duty, Maj.
