A U. S. Air Force MC-130J Commando II aircraft with the 353rd Special Operations Wing, Air Force Special Operations Command, under the operational control of Special Operations Command Pacific, airdrop pararescue men with the 353rd SOW off the coast of Okinawa, Japan during exercise Rescue Flag 25-1 Okinawa, Jan. 22, 2025. During this iteration of Rescue Flag, U.S. and Japanese aircraft and response teams rescued simulated casualties of a crash site off the coast of Southern Japan. Rescue Flag is used as an opportunity for the 353rd SOW and all other participating units to test their rescue tactics, techniques, procedures, and equipment in a diverse set of near real-world rescue scenarios.
