GREAT LAKES, Ill. (January 30, 2025) Gas Turbine Systems Technician Mechanical 1st Class Daniel Anderson, an instructor at the Surface Warfare Engineering School Command Great Lakes Gas Turbine Systems Technician (GS) "A" School, demonstrates the operations of a gas turbine engine to a class of accession-level Sailors aboard Naval Station Great Lakes, January 30, 2025. The GS rating is broken up into two sub-specialtys: electrical and mechanical. The mechanical sub-specialty, or GSM, operate, repair, and perform organizational and intermediate maintenance on mechanical components of gas turbine engines, while the electrical sub-specialty, or GSE, are responsible for operating, repairing and performing maintenance on the electrical components.
