U.S. Marines with Battalion Landing Team 2/4, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, provide security during a simulated visit, board, search and seizure (VBSS) raid onboard amphibious transport dock USS San Diego (LPD 22) in the Philippine Sea, Feb. 10, 2025. VBSS is part of maritime interception operations that aim to delay or destroy enemy forces and supply chains in the maritime domain. The 31st MEU, the Marine Corps’ only continuously forward deployed MEU, provides a flexible and lethal force, ready to perform a wide range of military operations as the premiere crisis response force in the Indo-Pacific region.
