A UH-1N Huey helicopter provides air support for a maintenance convoy at Malmstrom Air Force Base, Mont., Jan. 28, 2025. The Huey is a highly adaptable light-lift utility helicopter capable of performing a variety of missions. The main functions include transporting emergency security forces, ensuring security and surveillance for off-base nuclear weapons convoys and conducting airlifts for distinguished visitors. Additionally, the Huey plays a vital role in disaster response, search and rescue, medical evacuations, airborne cable inspections, aircrew survival training, aerial testing and routine transport to missile sites.
