U.S. Marine Corps Lt. Gen. Bobbi Shea, commanding general, Fleet Marine Force, Atlantic, commander, Marine Forces Command, Marine Forces Northern Command, and MARFORCOM leadership have a face-to-face meeting with U.S. Navy Cmdr. Valerie Broznak, commanding officer, Whidbey Island-class amphibious dock landing ship USS Tortuga (LSD 46), during a ship tour on Naval Station Norfolk, Virginia, Feb. 11, 2025. During the visit, Shea conducted a comprehensive tour of the vessel and engaged with subject matter experts to enhance her understanding of the ship’s readiness, operational capabilities, and warfighting potential. This interaction served to reinforce strategic relationships with key leadership within the shipyard. Navy and Marine Corps integration enhances the dispersion of our forces, enabling broader access, optimized placement, and augmenting operational unpredictability across the entire spectrum of competition.
