U.S. Marine Corps Brig. Gen. Thomas M. Armas, deputy commander, Fleet Marine Force, Atlantic, Marine Forces Command, Marine Forces Northern Command goes ashore following a tour of the amphibious dock landing ship USS Tortuga (LSD 46) on Naval Station Norfolk, Virginia, Feb. 11, 2025. During the visit, U.S. Marine Corps Lt. Gen. Bobbi Shea, commanding general, Fleet Marine Force, Atlantic, commander, Marine Forces Command, Marine Forces Northern Command, and MARFORCOM leadership conducted a comprehensive tour of the vessel and engaged with subject matter experts to enhance their understanding of the ship’s readiness, operational capabilities, and warfighting potential. This interaction served to reinforce strategic relationships with key leadership within the shipyard. Navy and Marine Corps integration enhances the dispersion of our forces, enabling broader access, optimized placement, and augmenting operational unpredictability across the entire spectrum of competition.
