NORFOLK (Feb. 13, 2025) Sailors assigned to the amphibious assault ship USS Wasp (LHD 1) evacuate the ship as Navy Region Mid-Atlantic Fire and Emergency Services arrive as part of an 8010 validation exercise, Feb. 13, 2025. The 8010 validation exercise evaluates the ship’s ability to respond to a major fire, and assesses the ship’s emergency teams, medical department, firefighting capabilities, and the crew's ability to integrate with external fire teams.
