Soldiers assigned to 2nd Battalion, 87th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division, move toward the ammunition point to draw their initial supply before executing a support-by-fire live-fire exercise during Exercise Gothic Sentinel at Ethan Allen Firing Range, Vermont, Feb. 20, 2025. The mountainous terrain and subfreezing temperatures challenged Soldiers as they honed their marksmanship, coordination, and maneuver tactics in a cold-weather combat environment. Overlooking Mount Mansfield, the highest peak in Vermont, the training area provided a realistic setting for Soldiers to enhance their combat readiness, adaptability, and lethality.
