U.S. Marine Corps Brig. Gen. Kevin Collins, commanding general of 3rd Marine Logistics Group, center left, stands with Republic of Korea Marine Corps Maj. Gen. Lee, HoJong, commanding general of the ROKMC 1st Marine Division, center right, and their respective staffs during Collins’ visit to the ROKMC 1st Marine Division headquarters at Pohang Naval Base, Pohang-si, South Korea, Feb. 24, 2025. Collins met with Lee to learn about the capabilities of the ROKMC 1st Marine Division, and to discuss the current bilateral Freedom Banner and Korean Marine Exchange Program evolutions and future training opportunities for both Marine Corps units both within and outside of South Korea. This year’s U.S./ROK training exercises have more U.S. Marine Corps personnel training with their ROK allies in-country than in the past seven years, speaking to the importance of strengthening warfighting and contingency response capabilities between the two countries.
