The first place Justin and Misty Schreppel visited during their historical journey to Belgium in 2014 was Henri-Chapelle American Cemetery, where Staff Sgt. Joe Schreppel’s name is inscribed on the memorial honoring Soldiers from World War II that are missing in action. It was at Henri-Chapelle that the Schreppels first met Gustave Cyrns, a Zoersel resident who searched for years to find the Schreppel Family in Kansas and pay respects to them by sharing the history of Staff Sgt. Schreppel’s service and sacrifice on Aug. 17, 1943. (Photo courtesy of Justin Schreppel)
