Hannah Smith, a park ranger for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Pittsburgh District at Shenango River Lake, plants seeds inside a greenhouse to grow plants to enrich the lake’s native ecosystem in Transfer, Pennsylvania, Feb. 21, 2025.

Maintenance workers and park rangers at Shenango work to improve the lake’s facilities and campgrounds year-round, even during the winter months, to prepare for the surging visitors and camping reservations expected during the spring and summer months.
