U.S. Army Maj. Karl Kunkleman, battalion operations officer for 1st Battalion, 6th Field Artillery Regiment, 41st Field Artillery Brigade shakes hands with a senior officer from the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina during a Vienna Document visit to Exercise Joint Viking in Setermoen, Norway, March 7, 2025. First adopted in 1990 and most recently updated in 2011, the Vienna Document is a series of agreements between the participating states of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe, of which the United States is also a participant, on confidence- and security-building measures related to military resources that was derived from the 1975 Helsinki Accords and the 1986 Stockholm Document. Exercise Joint Viking 25 is a multilateral training event aimed at enhancing the U.S. Army's ability to collaborate with Arctic allies and respond effectively to crises in challenging terrains. The exercise involved U.S. soldiers, Marines, and personnel from Norway, the Netherlands, Finland, Germany, Denmark, and Great Britain, focusing on cold-weather skills and promoting cooperation among Allied forces.
