A water pump valve cover, crucial for a boiler system, had a lead time of four to six weeks through traditional procurement. The Advanced Manufacturing Center of Excellence team at Rock Island Arsenal-Joint Manufacturing and Technology Center was able to 3D print, machine, and test a replacement part in less than a week, dramatically reducing downtime for a critical piece of equipment. Rock Island Arsenal-Joint Manufacturing and Technology Center develops, manufactures and delivers readiness solutions through conventional and advanced manufacturing processes for the U.S. Army and Department of Defense systems globally.
