Cadets with the Arizona Army National Guard’s Recruiting and Retention Battalion Cadet Detachment participate in a two-mile run as part of the Army Combat Fitness Test (ACFT) at Papago Park Military Reservation in Phoenix on March 15, 2025. This assessment ensures cadets are physically prepared to meet the demands of military leadership while reinforcing the Army’s commitment to training standards. All participating cadets are enlisted in the Arizona Army National Guard and are on the path to becoming commissioned officers through either the Army ROTC program or Officer Candidate School (OCS). Some cadets will first complete basic training before returning to attend the state OCS program at the Regional Training Institute, while others will pursue their degrees through the Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC), commissioning as a 2nd Lt. upon graduation. These future leaders are training to uphold Army standards, ensuring they are ready to lead soldiers in complex and challenging environments. (U.S. Army National Guard photo by Staff Sgt.
