A congressional delegation, led by Rep. Trent Kelly (R-MS) that included members of HASC and other key committees, deplanes and greets leadership on the leeward flight line at Naval Station Guantanamo Bay on March 10, 2025.
Naval Station Guantanamo Bay's Commanding Officer, Capt. Mike Stephen, provided a brief about the base and led a tour of the installation with Command Master Chief, Kenneth Nixon.
Delegation members: Rep. Trent Kelly (R-MS), Rep. Ann Wagner (R-MO), Rep. Jimmy Panetta (D-CA), Rep. Veronica Escobar (D-TX), Rep. Mike Collins (R-GA), Rep. Mike Ezell (R-MS), Rep. Sam Graves (R-MO), and Rep. Tom Barrett (R-MI).
The group got a firsthand look at facilities and learned why Naval Station Guantanamo Bay's mission as a critical operational and logistics hub is strategically important for maritime security, humanitarian assistance and joint operations in the U.S. Southern Command area of responsibility.
