NORFOLK, Va. (March 24, 2025) Capt. Trace Head, commanding officer of the Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Bataan (LHD 5), speaks to the crew during the ‘Wings Over Waves’ naval heritage committee event on the barge mess decks, March 24. The event featured naval aviators throughout history through a presentation from Bataan’s Air Department and a cake cutting ceremony. Bataan is currently undergoing repairs while dry docked in the General Dynamics National Steel and Shipbuilding Company (NASSCO) shipyard.
