Capt. Tyler Scaff’s airway management device couples a suction catheter with a breathing tube stylet to help physicians clear blood, saliva, emesis, and other obstructions from a patient’s airway during a hyperangulated laryngoscopy. The Medical Research and Development Command’s Office of Medical Technology Transfer is working with Scaff to develop and de-risk the device for licensing by small businesses operating in the medical device space.
