Maj. Gen. John Cushing, commanding general of the U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command, renders honors alongside Lt. Col. (Ret.) William D. Swenson and Mr. Douglas Tamilio, director of the U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command Soldier Center, during the national anthem at the Jared C. Monti Soldier and Squad Research Facility dedication ceremony, April 7, 2025, at Natick Soldier Systems Center, Massachusetts. Monti deployed with 3rd Squadron, 71st Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division (LI) to Afghanistan, where he was killed in action on June 21, 2006, while attempting to rescue a wounded Soldier under heavy enemy fire. He was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor—the second 10th Mountain Division Soldier to receive the Nation’s highest military honor. The facility supports Soldier readiness through advanced training environments, human performance optimization, and cutting-edge research in collaboration with the DEVCOM Soldier Center and USARIEM.
