The Jared C. Monti Soldier and Squad Research Facility displays and demonstrates different equipment and programs that will improve the individual Soldier’s and squad’s capabilities and effectiveness at the Natick Soldier Systems Center, Massachusetts, April 8, 2025. Sgt. 1st Class Monti deployed with 3rd Squadron, 71st Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division (LI) to Afghanistan, where he was killed in action on June 21, 2006, while attempting to rescue a wounded Soldier under heavy enemy fire. He was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor—the second 10th Mountain Division Soldier to receive the nation’s highest military honor. The training within the facility prepares Soldiers for the complexities of modern warfare and focuses on the individual Soldier’s and squad’s operational, cognitive, behavioral, nutritional, physiological and physical performance.
