Adm. Bill Gortney, commander of U.S. Fleet Forces, presents Cryptologic Technician (Networks) 1st Class Shanon McQueen, from Navy Information Operations Command, with a helmsman clock after announcing her as the winner of the USFF 2012 Shore Sailor of the Year. McQueen will move on to the final round of competition and compete for the Chief of Naval Operations Shore Sailor of the Year. The Chief of Naval Operations established the Sailor of the Year program in 1972 to recognize the outstanding Sailors of the Atlantic and Pacific Fleets. The Sailor of the Year program brings recognition to those sailors who selflessly give of themselves to the Navy and to their communities.
