Adm. Bill Gortney, commander of U.S. Fleet Forces (USFF), presents Electronics Technician 1st Class Cheyenne N. Shasky, from USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71), with a helmsman clock after announcing her as the winner of the 2012 Sea Sailor of the Year. The chief of naval operations will meritoriously promote Shasky to chief petty officer in May. The chief of naval operations established the Sailor of the Year program in 1972 to recognize the outstanding sailors of the Atlantic and Pacific Fleets. The Sailor of the Year program brings recognition to those sailors who selflessly give of themselves to the Navy and to their communities.
