Coast Guard Cutter Calhoun crew honors memory of cutter torpedoed in WWI

Coast Guard Cutter Calhoun (WMSL 759) crew members hold a wreath-laying ceremony at sea to honor the memory of Coast Guard Cutter Tampa while underway near its presumed sinking location in Bristol Channel, Britain, April 2, 2025. Just weeks before the official end of WWI, Tampa was torpedoed and sunk by a German U-boat on Sept. 26, 1918, killing 111 Coast Guardsmen, four U.S. Navy sailors, and 15 British royal navy sailors and dockworkers.
