Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Jonathan Greenert and his wife, Darleen, pose for a photo with 18-year-old Alexander Burch, the Navy's 2013 Military Child of the Year, at the 2013 Military Child of the Year Award Gala. Burch, from Grand Forks, N.D., was a premature baby who was not expected to live through his first night. He has since used his life to help others in need, volunteering more than 400 hours in the past year to help his community while maintaining an exceptional GPA and participating in academic and sports clubs.
