Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Jonathan Greenert congratulates 18-year-old Alexander Burch for his selection as the Navy's 2013 Military Child of the Year at the 2013 Military Child of the Year Award Gala. Burch, from Grand Forks, N.D., was a premature baby who was not expected to live through his first night. He has since used his life to help others in need, volunteering more than 400 hours in the past year to help his community while maintaining an exceptional GPA and participating in academic and sports clubs.
