Lary Glodoski, Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources incident commander for the Douglas County wildfire, details key areas of the burn site to Gov. Scott Walker and Maj. Gen. Donald Dunbar, adjutant general of Wisconsin, during a site visit May 16. Walker, Dunbar and representatives from the state DNR and Wisconsin Emergency Management visited the site, held a news conference at the incident command post at Gordon Town Hall and met residents affected by the blaze. Walker issued an executive order declaring a state of emergency in response to the forest fire. An aerial tour of the site illustrated the effectiveness of fire containment measures.
