Staff Sgt. Javier Echols of the 108th Military Police Company out of Fort Bragg, N.C. smiles as he receives the Silver Star Medal from Multi National Corps-Iraq Commander, Lt. Gen. John R. Vines September 5. Echols and fellow Comrades Sgt. James Acosta and Sgt. Zachariah Collett rescued four wounded Iraqi National Guard Soldiers April 30 after their transport vehicle was hit by an improvised explosive device.
