Staff Sgt. Javier Echols, Sgt. James Acosta and Sgt. Zachariah Collett of the 108th Military Police Company out of Fort Bragg, N.C. stand at attention at an awards ceremony in their honor at Camp Liberty, Iraq September 5. The trio received awards from Lt. Gen. John R. Vines, Commander of Multi National Corps-Iraq, for their heroic efforts in rescuing four Iraqi National Guard Soldiers when their transport vehicle was struck by an improvised explosive device April 30. The Soldiers braved enemy fire to treat the wounded until an evacuation helicopter arrived. Echols received the Silver Star, Acosta received the Bronze Star Medal with valor and Collett received the Army Commendation Medal with valor. (Photo by Army Sgt. Lynne Steely)
