Daniel Dieckhaus, a Humanitarian Assistance Advisor with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) leads a discussion on civil and military coordination during the first annual Gema Bhakti, a table-top strategic planning exercise held at the International Peace and Security Center in Sentul, Indonesia, June 6. The goal of the exercise is to create a better understanding of the roles of key civil and military organizations in a disaster response and to develop a unified concept of operations and procedures during humanitarian assistance and disaster relief operations.
