After 600 miles of driving, all 33 trucks from the 1067th Transportation Company, 728th Combat Support Sustainment Battalion, 213th Regional Support Group, Pennsylvania Army National Guard, roll into the rest stop for the night at Volk Field, Wis., May 2, 2013. During the 24 hour period, 1067th soldiers drove more than 600 miles and three states, even safely navigating rush-hour traffic in Chicago. “Our second day was our biggest push,” said Staff Sgt. James Weathers, first serial leader with 1067th Transportation Company. “That’s where the rubber met the road on that day for a lot of our younger guys.” Weathers, who calls Atglen, Pa., home, went on to say he was proud of his soldiers. “The guys were great (…) it came together like a well fit glove.”
