Staff Sgt. James Weathers, first serial leader goes over the route and fuel stops with 2nd Lt. Ryan Sample, convoy commander, both assigned to the 1067th Transportation Company, 728th Combat Support Sustainment Battalion, 213th Regional Support Group, Pennsylvania Army National Guard, before rolling out of the gate, May 1, 2013. “It was challenging,” said Sample, who calls Jefferson, Md., home. “A lot of the stuff we worked on during the planning phase, we had to change it, had to be flexible.” The convoy overcame the challenges of long hours and even longer miles on the road. “I’m proud of everybody continuing on, and keeping morale high.”
