In 2012 Master Sergeant Pruitt deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in Nimroz Province. Master Sergeant Pruitt was killed in action by enemy fire when a roadside improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle on April 28, 2012. The memorial ceremony was held to honor Master Sergeant Pruitt for his many contributions as a lead instructor and curriculum developer for Financial Management School, Marine Corps Combat Service Support Schools.
