Capt. Mike DeWitt, Navy Operational Support Center Phoenix commanding officer, discusses the significance of the Battle of Midway during the second annual Battle of Midway Commemoration Ceremony held June 7 at the Arizona State Capitol building in downtown Phoenix. DeWitt and other speakers at the event honored servicemen who served during the battle and gave more than 100 attendees an understanding of the strategic importance of the battle, which took place less than six months after the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, to the success of the war in the Pacific during World War II.
