The names of 1,060 missing soldiers and Marines are inscribed on the walls of the Memorial Chapel, commissioned in 1930 by the American Battle Monuments Commission, in Belleau Wood. Above the inside entrance is inscribed, "The names recorded on these walls are those of American soldiers who fought in this region and sleep in unknown graves." (Official Marine Corps photo by: Cpl.
